Plantasia, the bit of spring for which you've been looking

The Buffalo Niagara area's plant & garden show, Plantasia, is up at the Erie County Fairgrounds Events Pavilion in Hamburg from now until Sunday. With the 3-5 inches of snow we got yesterday, it may just be the antidote to this last (and final?) blast of winter.

If an outdoor bed, like the one shown above, is not in your garden plans, there most assuredly are other ideas to steal; plants, ornaments & garden stuff to buy; and landscapers to run your ideas by. I don't require an outdoor bed, but it gave me the idea of strengthening my hot tub cover's support, covering with a large cushion and oversized pillows. It's already got a roof and curtains surrounding the area. I say this, but I'll never do it.

It's $9 admission for adults (12 & under free). If you visit here, you can find a coupon for an $8 admission. Hours are:
Thursday, March 24 - 10am-9pm
Friday, March 25 - 10am-9pm
Saturday, March 26 - 10:00am-9pm
Sunday, March 27 - 10am-5pm

There were a lot of outdoor curtains this year.
One of my favorite sightings - an arborvitae cactus. Now that's a cactus that'll grow in our area.
When you walk in there's an elaborate bamboo structure with bamboo in the middle.
How the hell did they transport the stuff? It's not as though you
can fold & unfold the stuff. Had to have been brought in by semis.

This was interesting. It's an umbrella bar/waterfall with koi pond IN the bar.
Here's the in-bar koi pond. It's cool and different and all,
but I don't think I could eat sushi on top of the fish.

Lights integrated into columns.

Bad photo, but it's a planted roof on a doghouse.
Another bed in teh garden, but as opposed to an actual bed intended for outdoors,
this bed/bath area was a conceptual mash-up of bedroom and garden.

The bar/pond/waterfall combo thingy.

Around the base of the central bamboo
structure were displays by area floral shops.
It's hard to see here, but the photo is actually of the rain curtain behind the sign.
You can sort of see the rain just above the sign.
